Witnesses told police that Moreno attacked the victim unprovoked, striking the victim twice with a beer bottle. The second strike shattered the bottle, causing the victim to fall to the ground. Moreno then began beating the victim while he was down, stomping on his head and abdomen and punching him in the face multiple times.

The affidavit said that the victim had a cut on his face, large contusions on his head, and fractures to the nose and eye socket. Additionally, the victim’s left eye was completely swollen shut.

Moreno was arrested at 2:45 a.m., according to the inmate roster for the Craighead County Detention Center. He appeared for his probable cause hearing on Sept. 30.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Moreno with second-degree battery (Class D felony) and fleeing (Class A misdemeanor). In addition to the $250,000 bond, Moreno was ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.

Moreno’s arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 26.
