Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Valley View High School is bringing Ken Ludwig’s “Lend Me a Tenor” to life in its upcoming production slated for this week.
“Lend Me a Tenor” follows a famous opera singer who is scheduled to perform the lead role in “Otello”. What is meant to be a grand night for the company turns into chaos as one problem leads to another behind the scenes. Mistaken identities, misunderstandings, and overall panic create one hilarious situation after another.

The cast and crew of students have been hard at work since rehearsals began Aug. 24 and even had to cut down a week due to homecoming interfering the original opening of the play. Despite the setback, that hasn’t stopped their spirit.
Director Dana Bruff described “Lend Me a Tenor” as a “madcap farce,” with all of the elements audiences would expect and more from the genre. She said the show was an opportunity she had wanted for some time, adding that she had an amazing cast of students that were eager to bring it to life.
Bruff explained that she had been in many of Ludwig’s plays before and even designed costumes for them, but this was her chance to direct one.
“Lend Me a Tenor” will play Oct. 1-2 at the Valley View Fine Arts Center. Doors open at 7 p.m.
The Valley View High School Theater Department has several more productions planned throughout the school year:
- “Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Jonesboro Christmas Show!” – Dec. 10-12 at 7 p.m.
- “The SpongeBob Musical Youth Edition” – Jan. 15-16 at 7 p.m.
- “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, School Edition” – April 1-3 at 7 p.m.
