Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Hundreds of volunteers rolled up their sleeves across Northeast Arkansas on Friday for the United Way of NEA’s 32nd Annual Day of Caring.
Recognized as one of the largest days of service in the region, the event pairs local businesses with the United Way to tackle essential projects that make Northeast Arkansas a better place. This year, 600 volunteers from 42 local organizations and businesses came together to complete 63 service projects.

In total, the community logged 3,500 volunteer hours in a single day.
Teams took on a wide variety of tasks to assist area nonprofits and community members who needed extra hands. Friday’s projects ranged from power washing windows and walls at local elderly communities to packing food boxes and cleaning up landscaping for area organizations.
“This event is a one-day snapshot of just how caring individuals in our community are, and we are happy to spearhead it,” said Erin Calhoon, Development Director for the United Way of NEA.
“It’s the one day a year that we touch multiple lives all day long as the volunteers complete these projects,” she added.
