Jonesboro- Mirthe Lee Locke was born on April 7, 1955, in Gill, Arkansas to Grant Locke and Lottie Zell Locke. Mirthe gave her life to Jesus Christ at a young age and remained a believer of the Christian faith until her departure on May 7, 2024.
Mirthe Locke moved to Jonesboro in 1989 where she resided until her passing surrounded by her loved one. She loved her family, and nothing gave her greater joy than spending time with her family.
Preceded in death by her father, Grant Locke; mother, Lottie Locke and one brother, Robert Locke.
Mirthe leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Kimberly (Kenneth) Thomas, Pamela (John) Hughes, Odessia (Lee) Haywood all of Jonesboro and Kellie Maggard of Columbia, MO; a son, Alvino Cheatum of Gravois Mills, MO; four sisters, Patricia Williams, Emma Sanders, Viola Locke and Linda Locke all of Jonesboro and a brother, William Locke of Eldorado. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of her life will be noon Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Bethesda Worship and Healing Center with Rev. Kenneth Thomas Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Nettleton Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
Honored to serve as active pallbearers, Marquest Hughes, John Hughes Jr, Kenneth Thomas Jr., Edward Haywood, Quinten Young, Jordan Harris and honorary pallbearers are Alvino Cheatum, John Hughes Sr., Emmanuel Locke, Stanley Locke, Demarius Locke, Isaiah Haywood, Jeremiah Haywood, Jimmy Harper and Eric Sanders.
