Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – The Arkansas State University community is mourning the loss of a familiar voice on the sidelines. JC Cox, a member of the A-State radio broadcast team, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 20.
According to Arkansas State University Athletics, Cox had been a fixture for the Red Wolves as a football sideline reporter since 2022. A longtime local media member, he was also known as the host of the “Red Wolf Roll Call” program.

In a statement released Monday morning, A-State Athletics extended its condolences to Cox’s family, friends, and colleagues.
“JC was not only a cherished member of our radio broadcast team… he was more importantly a great friend and inspiration to us and countless others,” the athletics department shared. “JC was a treasured member of our community, and we are grateful for the positive impact he had on many lives, including our A-State staff and student-athletes. He leaves a tremendous legacy behind that will not be forgotten.”
To honor Cox, the Dean B. Ellis Library clock tower will be illuminated in scarlet on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 26, as the Red Wolves host Kennesaw State for their home football game.
