Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Douglas MacArthur Junior High staff are hitting the road this Friday in an effort to connect directly with the community and share essential student resources.

“MAC Goes Mobile” is a new initiative created by the school as a way for staff to step beyond the school walls and visit the neighborhoods they serve.

“Our overall goal is to solidify our reach on the community by extending a philanthropic arm aimed at helping and promoting our school’s mission,” said assistant principal Franklin Teague. “That mission is learn, lead, and leave a legacy.”

Staff members will be using a professional development day to visit three sites around Jonesboro: Parker Park, Northside Park, and the MacArthur campus. At each site, they will provide information about school resources and upcoming events. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities and enjoy a provided lunch.

“First things first, we want to be able to communicate any information missing due to an accessibility barrier, informing the community of resources we deem important and essential for their students’ success,” Teague said, highlighting offerings that range from counseling services to mentorship and academic support.

While this is the inaugural “MAC Goes Mobile” event for the junior high, Teague is expecting “something great” and confirmed it certainly won’t be the last.

“We plan on growing this event to bigger heights. Hopefully, this can become a premier event annually,” he said.
