Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Arkansas State University police arrested three men following the late-night theft of a university-leased golf cart, piecing together the suspects’ route through surveillance footage.

On Sept. 14, campus police were notified that a golf cart, leased for the football season by the A-State Alumni Association from SS Custom Carts, had been stolen. The cart was valued at $4,750.

According to probable cause affidavits, the timeline of the theft unfolded early that morning:

  • At 2:28 a.m., security cameras captured a black Chevrolet Malibu arriving at the Embassy Suites.
  • The three suspects—identified as Caleb Deshaun Quinn, Robert Deshaun Selvy, and Taris Durell Randolph—were then seen walking along Red Wolf Boulevard toward Stallings Lane.
  • By 3:37 a.m., the trio returned to campus and crossed the A-State Baseball Stadium parking lot, where the golf cart was parked.

Following the theft, the affidavits said Quinn drove the stolen cart off campus onto Red Wolf Boulevard. The Malibu was observed leaving the area shortly after. Quinn drove the cart and eventually met up with the Malibu at the Maverick gas station located at 2214 E. Johnson Ave.

At the gas station, one of the suspects left the Malibu and joined Quinn on the golf cart. The suspects then drove the cart through the Pines Apartments, cutting through a fence line to reach Sybel Cove.

The affidavits said Jonesboro police cameras later showed the cart at Cedar Heights Drive and Melrose Street with two suspects on it. The suspects traveled westbound onto Belt Street and turned south, eventually arriving at a home on State Street.

Officers recovered the stolen golf cart at 11 a.m. Sept. 15. They said it was being driven in the 1800 block of Cedar Heights just before police located the three defendants.

The suspects appeared before Judge Barbara Halsey on Sept. 16. She found probable cause to charge each of them with theft of a vehicle valued at $5,000 or less but greater than $1,000, a class D felony. They are each being held on $35,000 cash/surety bonds in the Craighead County Detention Center and scheduled to be back in court Oct. 26.
