Mildred Janice Holt, 94, of Jonesboro, AR passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Bono, AR on October 31, 1929, to Bearl and Effie (Gable) Caples. Mildred was a member of Cathedral Baptist church and was a retired house mother for the Arkansas Children’s Colony. She loved working in her yard, sewing, spending time with her friends and playing cards at the Senior Center, and doing puzzles.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Dye; her second husband, James Wiley Holt; her parents; brothers Paul Caples, Herschel Caples, Shelby Caples, and an infant brother; and sisters Doris Davis and Charlotte Wilson.
Those left to cherish the memory of Mildred are her daughter, Glinda Carolyn Butts and her husband William Ladell Butts; grandchildren Angela (Mike) Carter, Stoney (Terrie) Hall, and Deanna Turner; great-grandchildren Leah, Clay, Will, Madison, and Cole; 11 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild; brothers Wayne (Emma) Caples and Bearl (Dorothy) Caples Jr; sisters Norma (Bob) Davis, June (Leon) Hamilton, and Shirley (Frank) Piker; and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11am at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home 1900 W. Washington Ave Jonesboro, AR 72401, with Ken Beaver officiating.
A visitation will precede the service beginning at 10am.
Family will serve as honored pallbearers.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Mildred’s memory to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House of Jonesboro.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
