Poinsett County, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Emergency vehicles and first responders are on the scene of an accident on Highway 1 South Thursday morning.

Witnesses say southbound traffic on Highway 1 was stopped for a highway paving project when a van, identified by witnesses as a FedEx delivery van, struck a white Ford pick-up in the rear.

The FedEx van caught fire following impact. Witnesses on the scene told JRN the FedEx van may have been carrying an unknown quantity of ammunition and/or firearms. Later those same witnesses said the ammo and guns were in the truck that was hit from behind, not the van.

The female driver of the FedEx van was helped out of the van by passersby and taken by ambulance to a hospital according to witnesses. There was no information available on any other persons involved.

The accident occurred in front of RiceTec, Inc. whose address is listed as 15329 Highway 1, Harrisburg, Arkansas. A video taken by RiceTec employee Marya Langford and submitted to JRN appeared to show some explosions and projectiles occurring while the vehicles burned.

This is an ongoing story. First responders are still on the scene. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
