Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro police officer was attacked early Sunday by a K9 officer during an article search in a Jonesboro West End neighborhood.

According to Sally Smith, public information officer for the Jonesboro Police Department (JPD), Officer Zach Hobbs and the K9 officer were conducting a traffic stop at Burke and Culberhouse.

At some point the suspect fled on foot and was detained on Nesbit, according to a transcript of the dispatch call.

The suspect was arrested and an article search was underway when the K9 misbehaved and attacked Hobbs, according to Smith.

The transcript of the call to dispatch read:

“Dispatch, we need EMS over here.”

“What’s the nature? So I can let them know.”

“Dispatch, he’s been bit multiple places, multiple times.

According to a source, the K9 is in custody and being detained at the police department. Hobbs was transported to the hospital and being treated for bites, Smith said.
