As part of the plan, Jonesboro is seeking approximately $717,683 in funding assistance from HUD through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. By federal law, all CDBG funds must be allocated toward projects that achieve at least one of three primary objectives:
- Directly benefit low- and moderate-income individuals
- Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight
- Meet other community development needs
The 30-day review period gives local citizens the opportunity to voice their opinions on how these federal dollars will be spent to shape the community over the next year.
The draft of the Annual Action Plan is currently available. The document can be reviewed online at JonesboroAR.gov, or a digital copy can be requested by emailing grants@jonesboroar.gov. Written comments can also be submitted via email or by mail to the Dept of Grants and Community Development, City of Jonesboro, P.O. Box 1845, Jonesboro, AR 72405.
All public comments must be received no later than the close of business on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. For additional information or questions regarding the CDBG program, residents are encouraged to contact the Jonesboro Grants Department directly at (870) 336-7170.
