Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 30, 2024 – A Jonesboro man is $5,000 poorer after falling victim to a scam.
The 61-year-old victim, who lives on Lochmoor Circle, told Jonesboro police on Monday afternoon that he is a part of theX1 Parker AI investment group through an app called Whatsapp. He said a woman is in charge of sending out information to members about when and what to invest in on a crypto platform group.
The victim said he was sent a message on the app informing him to invest money at a certain time. He said she then sent an edited text for a different time.
According to a report by Officer Aaron Parhamm, “Victim #1 advised he lost over $5,000. I then asked Victim #1 how much exactly, and he responded with I can’t say exactly, or it would get me in trouble somewhere else.”
The Jonesboro police’s Criminal Investigation Division reviewed the case, and it will be listed as inactive until new information becomes available.
