Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Jonesboro police arrested a man after they said they found evidence of him selling drugs, including fentanyl. He was also found to be in possession of a handgun.
On April 24, Patrolman Joshua Chaffin observed 35-year-old Daniel Trace Cohn leaving the Maverik at Hilltop. Chaffin knew Cohn to be on suspended imposition of a sentence with a search waiver on file and to be involved in the sale of drugs.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Chaffin searched Cohn, finding inside his pocket 3.5 M30 pills identified as fentanyl pills. He was taken back to his home, where officers found a 40 caliber handgun. A search of Cohn’s phone also yielded multiple messages indicating Cohn was selling drugs, including the fentanyl pills.
Cohn was arrested at 4 a.m., according to the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office jail roster. He appeared hours later in front of Judge Barbara Halsey. She found probable cause to charge him with three felonies:
- Possession of fentanyl – purpose to deliver (Class A felony)
- Use of a communication device (Class C felony)
- Possession of a firearm by certain persons/prior felony (Class D felony)
It was noted during Cohn’s hearing that this was his 10th arrest. He was given a $75,000 cash/surety bond.
Cohn is scheduled for arraignment on May 18. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 46 years in prison and fines up to $35,000.

Update: According to another affidavit, while at the same Maverik, Chaffin observed 38-year-old David Brock Buck in his vehicle, who was known to be on active parole. He was found to have a handgun in his vehicle, then a search of his home revealed several items, including a meth pipe, digital scale, and two bags of meth totaling 8.3 grams.
Buck is also being held on a $75,000 cash/surety bond and also faces three felonies:
- Possession of meth or cocaine with the purpose to deliver greater than two grams but less than 10 grams (Class B felony)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class B felony)
- Possession of a firearm by certain persons/prior felony (Class D felony)
Buck is scheduled for arraignment on May 18. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 46 years in prison and fines up to $40,000.
