Troy, AL – Contributed – Arkansas State (19-12, 6-6 SBC) was unable to hold onto a four-run lead in the rubber match against Troy (15-17, 6-6 SBC) Saturday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field.

Derek Martinez loosed a two-out solo home run in the top of the first inning to take the lead early. The Red Wolves then added another after two leadoff batters reached on a walk and a single from Quiller set up runners at the corners for a Cason Campbell sac bunt.

Dylan Farley finished his start with 4.0 innings, allowing two hits for one run, striking out one.

A-State doubled their lead to four runs after loading the bases in the fifth inning, Evan Griffis bouncing a double off the wall. Troy responded in the bottom of the frame with a two-run shot with no outs, then scored two more off a trio of hits to tie the game heading into the sixth inning.

Troy dropped three singles for two runs in the seventh inning to take the lead. A-State worked the leadoff hitter on in the eighth to no success, then struck back-to-back singles in the ninth to put the winning run at the plate. A lineout to third turned into a double play at the bag to end the Red Wolves’ chances.
