Craighead County, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The Arkansas Secretary of State runoff election day has arrived; early voting has ended.

The election is between state Sen. Kim Hammer (R-Benton) and Bryan Norris. During the Republican preferential primary, Hammer, Norris, and Miller County Judge Cathy Hardin Harrison ran for the seat but no candidate secured a majority vote.

According to election results from the Arkansas Secretary of State, Norris received 34.4% of the vote, Hammer 33.46%, and Hardin 32.13%. Harrison did not secure enough votes to make it to the runoff, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported. This is a statewide runoff.

The winner of this race will go up against Democratic candidate Kelly Grappe and Libertarian candidate Michael Pakko in the November general election.

According to Craighead County, those who voted on a Republican or nonpartisan ballot, or did not vote in the primary, can vote in this runoff.

Early voting for this election was from March 24 to 30, and nearly 500 people turned out to vote during that time. Totals for early voting were 444 in Jonesboro and 53 in Lake City.
