Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Crews with multiple power companies are continuing to work to restore power in the aftermath of Sunday evening’s storms.

According to a Facebook post from Craighead Electric Cooperative, over 1,100 members are still without power. It added that crews were dealing with more than 20 broken power poles, which the cooperative said require specialized, off-road equipment to access.

The cooperative’s largest outage runs from north of Light toward Beech Grove. The post said crews were currently working the outage, with the hope that service will be restored after the lunch hour. The cooperative is reporting several smaller, scattered outages across its service area as well.

“We appreciate your patience as crews continue working to restore service safely. Additional help is on the way, and work will continue until everyone is restored,” the post said.

In Craighead County, Entergy Arkansas is reporting a total of 69 outages, with most of them near Lake City, according to its outage map. As of Monday afternoon, these outages have been cleared, according to the map.

On City Water Light of Jonesboro’s outage map, two outages are reported.

Jonesboro and most of Northeast Arkansas were hit with a strong line of severe thunderstorms Sunday night, with several tornado warnings issued as the night went on. Wind gusts in Jonesboro were reported to be 70-75 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.

Power was knocked out for thousands Sunday night, and downed power lines, tree damage, and some property damage was reported.
