Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library has several workshops planned for all ages during February.
Each month, the library displays art made by community members, with February’s display featuring work from April Swanner’s Pre-K class. The art can be found throughout the library and will be displayed until the end of the month.
On Feb. 24 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Round Room, the library will host a painting workshop called “That’s Not a Paint Brush!” The workshop, which is for tweens, encourages participants to paint using tools such as toothbrushes, spoons, sticks, toy cars, and more.
On Wednesday, Feb. 25, the library will partner with WOO Films and the Porchlight Film Festival to present “Telling a Story with Images: A Beginner’s Guide to Filmmaking.” This workshop will take place in the Round Room from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Teens in grades 7-12 will learn about background compositions, camera angles, costumes, props and on-camera performances. Local filmmakers will be at the workshop to guide participants on filmmaking techniques.
Then, on Friday, Feb. 27, the library will host a Master Gardener’s workshop in the Round Room from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
This will be a hands-on session with the Craighead County Master Gardeners. A licensed physical therapist will be presenting proper body movements for common gardening activities like lifting, shoveling, and carrying. Participants will be shown techniques aimed at assisting with preventing musculoskeletal pain and injury while working in a yard or garden.
Registration is not required for this workshop.
The library is located at 315 W. Oak Ave. For more information about the library, visit its website, Facebook page, or call 870-935-5133.
