Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – A Jonesboro man faces multiple felonies after police said he broke into a local auto dealership, stole a truck, and drove around the city spending stolen cash and giving it to his friends.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause Jan. 21 to charge 26-year-old Logan Matthew Sawyer with the following:

  • Class C Felony: Commercial burglary
  • Class C Felony: Theft of a motor vehicle less than $25,000 but more than $5,000
  • Class C Felony: Theft greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000
  • Class A Misdemeanor: First-degree criminal mischief

According to the affidavit, on Jan. 19, Sawyer busted out a window at Williamson Auto Sales on E. Nettleton Avenue and entered the business.

Police said that during this time, Sawyer went through several offices and desks, where he took money and other items, including a couple sets of keys to vehicles that were for sale on the lot.

Sawyer then stole a 2014 GMC truck from the lot and started going to several places around the city, using the cash on several purchases and giving some of it to his friends, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit said officers found the vehicle on Warner Avenue and met Sawyer. They found the items stolen at the dealership and arrested him. Police said over $5,000 worth of items were taken along with the vehicle.

Sawyer is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash/surety bond and scheduled to appear in court again March 20.
