Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – Area high school students interested in a future in creative media are encouraged to participate in the upcoming competition hosted by Arkansas State University’s School of Media and Journalism.
Submissions for the Great A-State Media Fest opened earlier this week and will remain open until Friday, March 27.
“We are excited to bring this competition back and encourage high school students to participate,” said Johnathan Reaves, instructor in the School of Media and Journalism. The event, back from a year-long hiatus, features a myriad of categories to which one may submit entries.
“We want this competition to be a wide range of media platforms, since we know that students are creating and consuming content through different mediated communication,” said Reaves.
Reaves said they reviewed previous categories and revised some of them. Competitions available for submission include audio, video, graphic communication, online content production, social media, and photography.
“New categories were created in collaboration with the School of Media and Journalism faculty and alumni in the professional fields,” Reaves continued. “With such a wide variety of categories, we are excited to see what high school students will submit to the competition.”
This event is for high school students from seventh through 12th grades, in addition to those who graduated in 2025.
“Often, those who enter this competition become our future students, and we are excited to see — and hear — their work so we can take it to the next level when they come to A-State,” said Reaves. “This gives high school students an excellent opportunity to showcase their work in a friendly, encouraging environment and to take home an award from the Great A-State Media Fest.”

The awards ceremony will be held on Friday, April 24, and will be broadcast by ASU-TV on YouTube and Facebook.
