Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Deputies arrested a man after they said he raped a victim at their home after meeting online.
According to a probable cause affidavit, on Dec. 20, 2025, officers met with a victim at a hospital to obtain a detailed account of an incident that occurred involving 29-year-old Terry Nicholas Mitchell, of Calico Rock.
The victim told officers they had been communicating with Mitchell for approximately three weeks after meeting online. While traveling near Mitchell’s home in Calico Rock earlier that day, the victim invited him to return to Jonesboro with them.
The affidavit said that later that evening, Mitchell asked to sleep in the victim’s bed. They consented to the request but explicitly said there would be no sexual contact. The victim reported falling asleep but later woke to find Mitchell’s hand inside their clothing and sexually assaulting them. They immediately pushed him away and told him “no,” again saying that they were not going to have sex.
However, the victim fell asleep, only to be woken by Mitchell a second time. According to the affidavit, Mitchell had his arm wrapped around the victim’s neck, pinning their head down, and having sex nonconsensually. The victim managed to push him off once more and yell for him to leave.
In an attempt to get away from Mitchell, the affidavit said that the victim moved to the living room. Security footage inside the home showed Mitchell following the victim and standing over them, apologizing. However, as he gets ready to leave, Mitchell is shown swiping the victim’s cell phone before heading out. The affidavit said that a second camera at the front door captured audio of Mitchell saying, “I guess I won’t be hearing from you again,” apologizing one more time, then running away from the home.
The online jail roster said Mitchell was arrested by Craighead County deputies at 10:45 a.m., Jan. 3.
Mitchell appeared before Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey on Jan. 5, where she found probable cause to charge him with rape/sexual intercourse (physically helpless to give consent, a class Y felony). He was given a $200,000 cash/surety bond, and he is required to have no contact with the victim and wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.
Mitchell’s next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 27.
