Pensacola Beach, FL – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 16, 2024 – The Jonesboro Fire Department’s Invincible Combat team made waves at the Pensacola Beach Firefighters Challenge, held April 12-13 in Pensacola Beach, Florida.
Jonathan Edwards, Cody Nelson, and Colby Stallings represented their department admirably, thanked by their administration, fellow firefighters, and the supportive JFD Ladies Auxiliary.
This renowned challenge, set against Pensacola’s beautiful beach backdrop, tests participants’ skills on a grueling obstacle course donned in full gear. From forced entry drills to hose pulls and dummy drags, competitors face real-life firefighting scenarios in the sand. In total, 58 competed in the individual division alongside 3 from the Jonesboro Fire Department. 15 competitors did not finish due to the extreme difficulty of the course.
JFD Driver Jonathan Edwards completed the course in 4 mins 55 seconds, JFD Captain Cody Nelson completed it in 4 mins 20 seconds, and JFD Firefighter Colby Stallings finished the course in 3 mins 44 seconds.
With individual and team courses for civilians and firefighters alike, participants compete for personal best times. Awards recognize top performers in team and individual categories across various age divisions. This was the first year that JFD has participated in the Firefighter Challenge, and they are already gearing up for next year.
