Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – Arkansas State University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science (CoECS) welcomed alumni and friends for the annual gathering of the CoECS Alumni Academy.

“The Alumni Academy continues its impressive growth by inducting nine new members to its fold, bringing the total membership to 90,” said Dr. Abhijit Bhattacharyya, dean of the CoECS. “I applaud the academy members for their spirit of servant leadership and acting as role models for our students. I am also grateful to the Academy for creating an Alumni Academy Annual Scholarship.”

The annual banquet particiipants included faculty and students, along with numerous alumni of the college.

“I was honored to serve this year and work with the board of the academy to support the college,” said Charles Brinkley, academy president. “For me, the success of my career is owed to the education and opportunities I had at A-State. The Alumni Academy strives to give current students the best opportunities to succeed in their studies and future endeavors.”

This year also marked the presentation of the inaugural Alumni Academy Annual Scholarship. The first recipient, Brooke Gerau of Jackson, Mo., a double major in construction management and engineering management systems, received a $1,000 scholarship.

Membership in the Alumni Academy is by invitation only, recognizing A-State graduates and friends of the college who have at least 10 years of professional experience and have demonstrated significant achievements in their fields.
