Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 4, 2025 – The City of Jonesboro announced on Wednesday that cardboard recycling is now available at the city’s Public Works location.
Patrick Courtois, the sanitation superintendent for the City of Jonesboro, said the department started accepting cardboard recycling due to public demand.
“We’ve noticed we were getting a lot of phone calls from residence of Jonesboro wanting to know where they could go and recycle and they wanted a place they felt they could go to,” Courtois said.
Scott Roper, the director of code enforcement for the City of Jonesboro, reached out to Courtois, he said, suggesting they partner with the Department of Human Services (DHS). DHS puts out bins for cardboard recycling during the city’s monthly neighborhood cleanups, which are then picked up and recycled.

“We had the idea of reaching out to DHS to see if they would be interested in doing the same with our incinerator site, putting out some bins down there where people had the choice,” Courtois said. “Now, residents can not only recycle the cardboard, but they can also recycle glass and bring us their yard waste and any junk that they want to get rid of. We’ll take it… a central location if you will.”
Cardboard recycling is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the city’s Public Works facility at 2650 Lacy Drive. Saturday pickups for the year will end on Nov. 1.
