Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug. 5, 2025 – Coty Powers announced Tuesday his campaign for Arkansas State Representative in District 30, seeking the Republican nomination.
“Arkansans deserve leaders who fight for transparency, fiscal responsibility, and real solutions — not political games,” Powers said in a news release. “District 30 needs a strong conservative voice who will show up, speak up, and do what’s right.”
He worked with the Department of Human Services, investigating child abuse and neglect. He also owns Powers Bail Bonds and Arkansas Professional Investigations. In the news release announcing his candidacy, he said Arkansas’s bureaucracy was broken and needed reform.
“The government needs to get out of the way and let people live their lives — and keep the money they earn,” he said in the release. “The red tape and bloated bureaucracy in this state are choking small businesses and dragging down working families.”
In the release, he said fighting corruption, supporting the Freedom of Information Act, and criminal justice reform were top priorities.
Powers previously ran in 2024 and in 2022.
The District 30 seat is currently occupied by Rep. Fran Cavenaugh (R-Walnut Ridge), who announced in June she did not plan to seek re-election. A few days after this, Craighead County District 9 Justice of the Peace Josh Longmire announced he planned to run for the seat.
The official filing period for candidates in the 2026 election cycle opens on Nov. 3, 2025. The primary election is March 3, 2026. District 30 includes portions of Craighead, Lawrence, and Greene counties.
