Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 24, 2025 — Police said a victim had to get away from their home Tuesday after a Jonesboro man threatened them and took their belongings when attempting to break up with him, putting their child in danger.
According to an affidavit, on July 22, Jonesboro police officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Countrybrook Drive. The victim told officers when they told 30-year-old Malik Jordan Williams that they didn’t want to be in a relationship with him, he got angry, flipped a table, and threatened to harm himself with a knife.
The victim said after throwing the knife down, they tried to leave with their child, but Williams then grabbed a box cutter and charged at them, threatening to kill each other. Williams took the victim’s phone and keys, and as the victim started to walk away with their child, Williams told them not to.
The affidavit said that the victim returned to the home and went into the bathroom. Williams followed the victim, becoming upset and punching the bathroom door. He then told them to go to the living room.
The victim said while sitting on the couch, Williams returned their phone and keys but told them, “The only way you leave is by dying,” to which he asked for a kiss and the victim refused, leading to their phone and keys being taken again.
Williams again attempted to cut the victim with a box cutter. The affidavit said the victim moved away, but in the process, accidentally knocked their child down, resulting in Williams yelling at the victim to make the child a bottle. While doing so, Williams continued to verbally attack the victim while trying to strike them, but they dodged the strikes.
As the situation calmed down, the victim asked for their items back, but Williams refused. The victim said that they left the home and contacted police from another location. The affidavit added that the child was also left behind after Williams refused to give the child to the victim.
Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause July 23 to charge Williams with second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, aggravated assault on a family or household member, first-degree false imprisonment, first-degree interference with emergency communication, and first-degree terroristic threatening.
Williams is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $75,000 cash/surety bond, awaiting his next court appearance scheduled for Sept. 30.
