Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 16, 2025 — Police arrested a Jonesboro man after they said he used a victim’s bank cards not long after stealing them from her home.
According to the affidavit, on July 7, Jonesboro police officers received a report of a residential burglary. The victim told the desk officer that her home had been “unlawfully entered” and her purpose was taken while she was out walking her dog. At that time, no information about a potential suspect was available.
The next day, the victim went back to the police department with new information from two businesses where her stolen bank cards had been fraudulently used. Transaction records and surveillance footage were obtained from both businesses. An email with a still image of the person from one of the videos was distributed to officers, identified as 63-year-old Alton Young.
“The timeline established from the burglary and the initial fraudulent use of the stolen cards indicated that the suspect went directly from the scene of the burglary to the businesses to use the stolen card,” the affidavit said.
According to the affidavit, during a Mirandaized interview, Young admitted to using the card at both businesses the victim identified.
On July 16, Craighead County Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Young with residential burglary, theft of $1,000 or less (second offense), theft of property credit/debit cards, and fraudulent use of a credit card. Young was given a $50,000 cash-only bond.
The affidavit noted that Young has had a “long history of theft” and that this would make it his fifth arrest this year.
On July 14, Young appeared before Judge David Boling for another case, facing charges of breaking or entering and theft of $1,000 or less from a vehicle. Boling gave Young a $75,000 cash/surety bond.
Young’s next court appearance for both cases will be on Aug. 21.
