Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 14, 2025 — A Jonesboro woman is facing a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a minor after police said she was involved in a crash while drunk with a 5-year-old in her vehicle.

According to an affidavit, on July 12, Jonesboro police officers were sent to a crash at Bittle Street and East Highland Drive.

Upon arrival, officers met with one of the drivers of the involved vehicles, 60-year-old Rhonda Marie Williams. One of the officers noted that Williams’ story about how the crash happened was not possible based on the positioning of the vehicles and how the road was laid out.

The affidavit added that Williams was slurring her words and had red, watery eyes, and a 5-year-old child was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

During the investigation, the officer had Williams get out of her vehicle, during which officers could smell “an odor of intoxicants” on her breath. Sobriety tests were conducted, and Williams was arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center. There, she provided a sample of her breath that resulted in a 0.31 Blood Alcohol Content level.

Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause July 14 to charge Williams with first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, driving while intoxicated, and careless and prohibited driving.

The affidavit noted that Williams has a prior driving while intoxicated charge in 2021, making this her second offense.

Williams is being held on $25,000 cash/surety bond and must wear a BAC ankle monitor upon release. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 21.
