Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 10, 2025 — A new Jonesboro nonprofit aiming to help foster kids will be hosting its first-ever car show fundraiser next weekend.

Elizabeth Love, founder and executive director of Faith Hope Love Drop-In Center, said the car show, called the Fast Lanes, Bright Futures Car Show, will be a family-friendly event helping support local youth aging out of foster care.

A foster child herself, Love started the Jonesboro-based nonprofit in November 2024. However, she’s still raising funds for a facility so she can begin her mission: offering resources for kids aging out of the foster system or being constantly moved from home to home. The car show is one way she’s trying to do that.

“I just need the funding right now in order to provide all of the stuff for the kids. I can’t really help the kids right this minute because I must have a building. This car show will help raise the money for the building,” Love said. “I am an absolute car lover, and I have so many car friends, so this is a really good fundraiser for me personally because I know all my friends are going to come out and support me and my cause.”

General admission will be $5, and children six and under will be free. Only cash will be accepted. Car entry fees are $25 per car. The event will also feature vendors. Love said she is still accepting vendors, as well as volunteers for the event.

When the center is fully open, Love said she will be able to sponsor applications and offer computer access and information on how to apply for colleges and jobs, build resumes, and more, all aiming to help foster kids succeed.

“Being a former foster kid, I understand the struggle. You never really get the guidance you need, and you never have consistency. With the drop-in center, I want foster kids to have consistency in their lives,” she said. “I know we can get pretty pricey and not having a stable living environment can be a struggle. I want to be that ‘stability’ for those kids. I want them to have access to computers to apply for jobs as they’re getting closer to being 18 and need to provide an income for themselves and save up to get a car and stuff like that.”

Love said she would also like to be able to reconnect foster kids with their siblings, as they don’t always get placed in the same home, and she wants it to be a safe haven for foster children in abusive homes. Having volunteered with the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) for four years, Love said she knows DHS workers can be overwhelmed, and she would like to partner with the department later down the road.

The Fast Lanes, Bright Futures Car Show will be held on July 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Metal Mart, 5517 AR-1.

“I hope this event will bring more families together. I hope it’s a good bonding experience for families that are struggling to bond with their kids,” Love said. “I also hope it brings more realization to families that are struggling to guide their kids onto their next chapter in life. Kids and teenagers can be very rebellious and, if they are struggling, I want to be able to reach out and help.”
