Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 26, 2025 — A Jonesboro man is behind bars on a $1 million bond for multiple fentanyl-related felonies spanning a months-long investigation.
Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause June 25 to charge 32-year-old Jamie Benetiez Harris with two counts of trafficking of fentanyl, distribution near certain facilities (enhanced penalties), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the affidavit, on June 24, special agent Rick Guimond with the Second Judicial District Drug Task Force found Harris’ home in the 700 block of Marshall Street, where he was arrested.
After getting permission to search the home, Guimond found three yellow-colored pills, which were suspected to contain fentanyl, on the bedroom dresser. He also found two cut straws with a powdery residue, believed to have been used by Harris to ingest the drug.
The affidavit said a person who lived at the home confirmed that the pills were fentanyl-laced and Harris became sick after taking one of them. The pills were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for analysis.
Harris was arrested due to two felony warrants signed by Boling. The first stated that on March 13, Guimond, along with special agent Austin Koval with Homeland Security Investigations, were told by a confidential informant about being able to buy powdered fentanyl from Harris. The warrant noted that Harris was living in an apartment in the 1000 block of Rains Street, which is less than 1,000 feet from a public school.
Under surveillance by the agents, the informant bought one gram of powdered fentanyl from Harris which was then given to the agents. The informant identified Harris from a photograph as the person that they bought the fentanyl from.
In another warrant, on April 9, Guimond and special agent Brett Nolen were alerted by a confidential informant about Harris selling powdered fentanyl from the same location. Another transaction was made by the informant through surveillance for two grams of powdered fentanyl, and the informant identified Harris through a photograph.
Per the bond agreement, Harris must wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.
Other charges could be pending for Harris pending the crime lab analysis, according to the affidavit.
Harris’ next court date is scheduled for July 31. He’s being held in the Craighead County Detention Center.
