Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 4, 2025 — The 44th annual Mountain Dew Grand Slam Classic is scheduled for this weekend at the Southside Softball Complex.
The tournament begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, and concludes with the championship game Sunday afternoon, which could start anywhere from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The complex is located at 5003 Stadium Blvd.
“It is probably the longest-running softball youth tournament in the state of Arkansas,” said tournament director Eddie Hobbs. “We enjoy hosting this tournament every year. It’s great for our city because it brings all kinds of people in. I’m expecting us to have several hundred spectators there this weekend based on previous numbers that we’ve had for tournaments.”
“We have a lot that come in and will stay the night, go through town doing some of our activities that we have available there and visit our restaurants and things like that. It’s a big positive for our city,” he continued.
Forty-five teams from across Arkansas and Missouri entered the tournament this year. These teams are sorted into seven divisions, including 16/18O, 14B, 14C,12C, 10B, 10C, and 8C, with teams ranging from 8 and under teams all the way up to 18 and under.
“The divisions are based through USA Softball of Arkansas. It is based on their records throughout the year,” Hobbs said.
For each division, awards will be given, including:
- 1st place, which will receive individual rings, a team trophy, and championship banners provided by Pepsi.
- 2nd place, which will receive individual rings and a team trophy.
- 3rd place, which will receive individual medals and a team trophy.
The entry fee is $5 at the gate for spectators 10 and over.
