Update Sunday 11:20pm: One more round of rain is expected to fall on Memorial Day Monday. North Central Arkansas (the lakes areas) may see rain as early as late Monday morning. Further East in Northeast Arkansas rain may hold off until later in the day. While severe weather is a possibility, heavy rain is the most probable risk on Monday.
2.87 inches of rain has fallen at the Jonesboro Municipal Airport since Friday.
2.97 inches of rain has fallen at Batesville since Friday.
1.99 inches of rain has fallen at Walnut Ridge since Friday.
1.21 inches of rain has fallen at Blytheville since Friday.
3.62 inches of rain has fallen at Mountain Home since Friday.

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 24, 2025 – Intermittent rain, sometimes heavy, threatened to washout the Memorial Day holiday weekend across much of Northern Arkansas.
Over 1.25 inches of rain had fallen at the Jonesboro Municipal Airport overnight through 11am Saturday morning. Concerning the possibility of flooding, the National Weather Service in Memphis said, “We are most concerned with the area from Poinsett across Crittenden into Shelby County where over 2 inches fell last night and early this (Saturday) morning.” The NWS issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for the area from western Craighead County, including Jonesboro, into the Memphis Metro. Several periods of rain are expected to fall across that same area through Tuesday.
Rain and thunderstorms had occurred around Norfolk Lake and the Mountain Home area overnight and Saturday morning. The Baxter County Airport observation station recorded well over 2 inches of rain through 11am Saturday morning.
Rain was also falling on Greers Ferry Lake as the weekend started. The Batesville Airport East of the lake in Cleburne County had recorded over an inch of rain.
The Spring River tourism area was wet as well. Just under two inches of rain had fallen overnight in the Hardy area. 1.57 inches of rain was recorded at Doniphan, MO along the Current River as of 11am Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service said multiple storm systems will move through the area today through Monday. While the main threat is heavy rain, there is also the possibility of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and large hail.
