Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 16, 2025 – The Northeast Arkansas area has been placed in the level 3-4 risk area for severe weather Friday.

Large hail and damaging winds seem to be the greatest threats from storms today. There is also a medium risk for a tornado.

The National Weather Service says there will be several “rounds” of severe weather potential Friday.

The first round is expected early Friday morning. Several severe thunderstorm warnings had been issued for some Northeast Arkansas counties before sunrise today (not Craighead).

Another round is possible, mainly across Northern areas of Northeast Arkansas as well as South Missouri, during the middle of the day.

The main threat for the heart of Northeast Arkansas will be later this afternoon and this evening.

There is also another slight risk for severe weather on Saturday.

Be prepared to receive severe weather warnings and information. 104.9 The Fox, 100.5 The Eagle and Mix 106.3, radio stations that are part of the Jonesboro Media Group, will broadcast severe weather information. The Region 8 Storm Team (KAIT-TV) will provide severe weather coverage. Warnings and information is also available on NOAA Weather Radio, broadcast in this area on 162.55 mhz.
