According to the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of an assault and battery on May 9.

The incident reportedly began with a physical altercation between 59-year-old Gregory Fletcher and his 21-year-old son, both of Jonesboro. Witnesses stated that the son struck his father multiple times in the side of the head with his fist, according to the probable cause affidavit.

According to the affidavit, following the confrontation, Fletcher went inside his home, retrieved a loaded shotgun, and returned outside.

Witnesses said Fletcher then pointed the weapon at his son and several of his juvenile friends, the affidavit said. He allegedly ordered them to leave the property, which they did.

Deputies found the loaded shotgun inside the home, and it was seized as potential evidence. Fletcher has been charged with aggravated assault and given a bond of $75,000.

According to online jail records, the son was charged with 3rd degree domestic battery. Both were released from the Craighead County Detention Center on May 12.

While standing before Judge Tommy Fowler on Monday, the judge said there was the potential for more charges to be added. However, none have been added as of yet.
