Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 10, 2025 – A burger chain started 75 years ago in Corpus Christi, Texas will locate a future restaurant in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

According to a post on the Coldwell Banker Village Communities Facebook page, Whataburger will locate in the Southern Hills development, a 175 acre mixed-use development on Southwest Drive between Interstate 555 and Mt. Carmel Road.

“That’s right—everyone’s favorite burger joint is making its way to the brand-new Southern Hills development, and we couldn’t be more excited!,” the post read.

Another post touted much of the development that has already happened along the area, but also mentioned McDonald’s which had not been previously announced.  The list of projects in the post included:

“This is a game-changer for Jonesboro’s future!,” the post touted. There was also a suggestion that other announcements would be forthcoming. “More BIG announcements are dropping later.”

The partners in the Southern Hills project are believed to be Carroll Caldwell, Prateek Gera and Matt Millerd.
