Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 16, 2025 — A Jonesboro man was charged with possessing child sexual abuse material on Wednesday.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the Jonesboro Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Division received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Feb. 24 regarding child sexual abuse material uploaded to Dropbox.
Dropbox provided the account information and all media after a search warrant was issued. Officers found over 170 images depicting child sexual abuse, according to the affidavit.
During the investigation, officers determined the images were being uploaded from a Jonesboro residence. They executed a search warrant on April 14, in which 38-year-old Matthew Scott was contacted.
Scott told officers in an interview that the Dropbox account belonged to him and that there was also child sexual abuse material on one of his phones, the affidavit said. Additionally, Scott told officers he viewed the material “as recent as last week.”
Scott is charged with one count of possession or use of child sexual abuse material. He was given a $50,000 cash or surety bond.
As conditions of the bond, the affidavit states Scott will take a mental health assessment, is to have no weapons and cannot access internet-connected devices “other than the ability to stream Netflix only.” He is also not to have any contact with any minors.
His next court date is May 22.
