Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 6, 2025 — A Massachusetts man is being held on a $200,000 cash/surety bond after police said he attempted to steal money from someone else’s account using a fake ID.
An affidavit stated that on April 2, officers responded to a bank for someone, later identified as 58-year-old John Plasse, of Taunton, Massachusetts, attempting to commit forgery. He had already run away from the scene when officers got there.
Banking staff said Plasse was a known forger, and he was using a North Carolina driver’s license and an American Express credit card to try to withdraw $4,800 from the account.
Police were able to find Plasse at a nearby business’s parking lot, where he then ran inside the business. They were able to quickly find him in a locked bathroom stall, trying to change his clothes and arrested him.
The affidavit stated that officers were able to find a forged North Carolina driver’s license that belonged to the victim with Plasse’s picture on it and an American Express credit card inside the bathroom’s changing table.
On April 4, a judge found probable cause to charge Plasse with second-degree forgery, non-financial identity fraud, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree criminal impersonation, and fleeing.
Plasse’s next court date is scheduled for May 22.
