Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — March 5, 2025 — Deputies arrested a Jonesboro man after they said he kicked a man with Parkinson’s disease in the neck, leading to him being admitted to the ICU.
According to the affidavit, at 2 a.m. March 3, Craighead County deputies went to the 1000 block of Craighead 792 Road for an assault that already occurred.
Deputies met with the victim at the front door, who had blood on his nose and redness on the left side of his neck. He told them that 29-year-old Jonathan Roy Lindsey and his girlfriend went to the home, began beating him for no reason, and drove off. The victim was taken to a hospital for his injuries.
A deputy met with the victim at the hospital while waiting for surgery. The victim explained he was at a woman’s house helping her unpack when she told him “He was not moving fast enough,” the affidavit said, adding that he “has Parkinson’s disease and cannot move fast or control his body parts sometimes.”
The victim said he was told to leave, and he called Lindsey and his girlfriend over to take him home. Once they arrived, they told the victim to get in their car, but they said he was moving too slow. The victim said that’s when the two began to slap and punch him, dragging him out of the house by his arm.
The victim told the deputy once he was at the doorway, Lindsey kicked him in the neck, despite knowing of his previous neck problems and being scheduled for surgery.
The affidavit stated that an MRI was performed on the victim’s neck, revealing that he had a fracture in his C2 vertebra. He was admitted to the ICU for surgery.
A “be on the lookout” was issued for Lindsey, and he was found at the Greene County Courthouse at 9 a.m. the same day, where he was arrested and taken back to Craighead County.
On March 5, Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Lindsey with second-degree battery/purpose of causing injury.
Lindsey is being held on a $3,500 cash/surety bond in the Craighead County Detention Center. Boling ordered that upon release, Lindsey have no contact with the victim.
Lindsey’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 24.
