Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 28, 2025 – A Jonesboro man has been accused of failing to update his sex offender registration information and fleeing from officers.

On Feb. 25, parole agents observed 43-year-old Caspirin Gibson sitting in the driver’s seat of a running pickup truck in the parking lot of 2007 Belt Street. The agents were familiar with the pickup and Gibson and knew he was a sexual offender and probationer with a search waiver on file.

The agents approached Gibson to conduct a probation search, when he reportedly began to back up. Agents told Gibson to stop the vehicle, but he refused, the probable cause affidavit said. Gibson traveled west in the parking lot while officers chased him on foot. The truck then entered a muddy part of the parking lot and stopped.

Agents removed Gibson from the truck and detained him. Afterward, an officer with the Jonesboro Police Department’s Street Crime Unit arrived on scene. The JPD officer and the parole agents found four smartphones in the pickup. Gibson told officers he owned one of the phones, which he unlocked so officers could search it.

While searching, officers discovered the phone had internet access and Gibson had been using it to access the internet, make phone calls, and send/receive text messages, the affidavit said.

Gibson is part of the Sex Offender Aftercare Program, which does not allow him to possess smartphones.

In addition, officers found documents showing Gibson was renting a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu from Feb. 12 through Feb. 28. Agents confirmed the credit card information listed on the rental agreement was Gibson’s and then contacted the City of Jonesboro Sex Offender Officer, who confirmed Gibson did not register the vehicle with the office.

Gibson is charged with one count of failure to register – failure to comply with reporting requirements and one count of fleeing.

He was given a $250,000 cash or surety bond and must wear a GPS ankle monitor. His next court date is April 24.
