Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 25, 2025 – Arkansas State women’s tennis is set for a midweek twin bill on Wednesday, traveling to Nacogdoches, Texas, to take on Stephen F. Austin and Lamar.
The Red Wolves (6-3) will face the host Lady Jacks (4-4) at 10 a.m. before taking on the Cardinals (2-6) in a neutral-site match at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at SFA’s Schlief Tennis Center.
“We have an opportunity to build on the momentum we have created,” A-State head coach Sujay Lama said. “Doubleheaders will challenge us physically and mentally. We’ll see how tough we are playing two quality opponents on the same day. We are excited and ready for the challenge.”
In the all-time series, the Red Wolves are 1-2 against SFA and 13-7 against Lamar.
Last time out, A-State moved to 2-0 at home with a 4-1 win over Southeast Missouri. After sweeping the doubles courts to go up 1-0, the Red Wolves got wins on courts 1, 2, and 4, with Hanmare McAslin clinching the match.
Three players lead the Red Wolves with six singles wins this spring: Carla Muro Castellvi (6-1), Anna Grigoreva (6-3) and Lilly Cvanciger (6-3). Loles Carbo Chova boasts the most overall wins with 13.
In doubles, Cvanciger and Abigail Thurmer have a team-leading five wins this spring – nine overall.
