Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 17, 2025 – The National Weather Service placed Jonesboro under a winter storm warning effective Tuesday.
The warning goes into effect Tuesday, Feb. 18, at noon and lasts until Wednesday, Feb. 19, at noon. The NWS predicts snow totaling three to five inches for Northeast Arkansas.
Drivers should plan on slippery conditions, with hazardous conditions impacting Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes, the NWS said. It added that if people must drive, drivers should keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicles in case of an emergency.
“Record cold temperatures are forecast for the mid to late portion of this week behind a strong Arctic cold frontal passage Tuesday night,” the NWS said. “Wind chills will drop to the single digits over most of the Midsouth Wednesday morning. Sub-zero wind chills are forecast Thursday morning over west Tennessee, eastern Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel.”
Snow showers mixed with sleet are expected to move into the area starting Tuesday night, with the low temperature hovering around 16°F. Wind chill values will be as low as 3°F with wind gusts anywhere from 15 to 30 mph.
Temperatures stay below freezing most of the week, with the temperature expected to finally climb to a high of 42°F on Sunday, Feb. 23.
