Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 27, 2025 – Jonesboro police recently conducted a traffic stop that ended in an arrest for drugs.

A man was driving a vehicle with his brake lights out, and when officers pulled him over, they learned he’d recently been on probation. When they asked him to step out of his vehicle, he reportedly tried to shove a bag under his front seat. According to the affidavit, officers thought the bag contained drugs, which they later determined had a little over a pound of marijuana.

As they began to detain him, he dropped a small baggy of marijuana containing 4.5 grams. They noticed he also seemed to have something in his mouth. He refused to open up, so they pried his mouth open and found a “powder around his mouth.”

Officers also found over $600 cash in his pocket. He did not have a driver’s license, though. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation for the suspected drugs he’d swallowed.

The man was charged with possession and purpose to deliver, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, no brake lights and no driver’s license. He was given a bond of $10,000 cash/surety. His court date is Feb. 28.
