Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 3, 2025 – A Jonesboro man reportedly chased a victim back to their car after sexually assaulting them on Christmas Day.
Jonesboro police responded to a reported sexual assault on Maryjane Street on Dec. 25. The victim said 23-year-old Tyrese Johnson lured them to his home under “false pretenses.” When the victim arrived, Johnson began touching their genitals, according to the probable cause affidavit. The victim added that they verbally objected to this and said they wished to leave the premises.
Johnson prevented the victim from leaving by closing the door and said they could leave after he performed oral sex on the victim, the probable cause affidavit said. The victim reported that Johnson pulled their pants down, but that they resisted, pulled their pants back up and opened the door.
The victim fled to their car while Johnson reportedly pursued them. The victim added that they used pepper spray on Johnson.
Johnson is charged with one count of second-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree kidnapping – false imprisonment, and one count of third-degree assault.
He was given a court date of Feb. 28 and a $75,000 cash or surety bond. If he makes bond, he is to have no contact with the victim. Johnson is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center.
