Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – March 27, 2024 – Special Judge Barbara Halsey found probable cause Wednesday to charge Monterio Wiley, 21, with three felonies involving an incident with his girlfriend Monday at a Jonesboro hotel.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Wiley got into an altercation at about midnight Monday at a hotel on Mead Drive with his 19-year-old girlfriend. When police arrived, the victim told police that Wiley had been arguing with her about her texting another male. She said Wiley took her phone from her and began choking her. She said they fell to the floor, causing Wiley to release her. He then began choking her again to the point where she almost lost consciousness.

She said Wiley released her and she was able to flee the hotel room.

Halsey charged Wiley, of Hughes, AR, with aggravated assault on a family or household member, kidnapping/false imprisonment, and first-degree terroristic threatening.

She set bond at $25,000. His next court date is May 25 in Craighead County Circuit Court.
