Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Dec. 11, 2024 – Jonesboro police officers were near the intersection of South Culberhouse and West Monroe when a black SUV sped by them, running a stop sign.

The officers followed the vehicle, watching as it continued to drive recklessly. They tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled from officers, causing them to chase. The driver ran a red light and several stop signs, passing other vehicles in no-passing zones, all while driving at unsafe speeds. The pursuit ended when the vehicle got stuck in a field.

The driver was ordered to get out of the vehicle, after which he was taken into custody. It was determined that the vehicle belonged to the Central GMC dealership. The man told officers that he worked for Central and had permission to have the vehicle.

Detectives spoke with the Central manager and learned that the man did not have permission to drive the vehicle. The manager also said he wanted to pursue theft charges.

The driver was charged with theft of a vehicle valued at more than $25,000, reckless driving, fleeing, no driver’s license and no liability insurance.

His bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety and he was given a court date of Jan. 24, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.
