Mrs. Ethel Mae Farris of Bono, formerly of Harrisburg, departed this life on Friday evening, December 6, 2024, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, at the age of 89.

She was born February 21, 1935, in Marked Tree, AR, the daughter of the late Eugene Hayes and Edna Rhinehart Culberson.

As a young girl, Ethel learned the value of work. She worked hard on the farm hoeing and chopping cotton.  She later worked cleaning apartments and her last employment was custodian at Trumann High School.  She married Homer P. Griffin in the early 50’s and they enjoyed over 40 years together before his death in 1999.  In January of 2004, she married Carl Edward Farris and they enjoyed 13 years before his death in 2017.  She loved life. She loved her family and church and she loved reading and collecting Indian Dolls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Homer P. Griffin and Carl Edward Farris, and a son, Homer E. Griffin.

She is survived by a daughter, Terri Vodry and husband John of Quilene, WA, one brother Joe Culberson of Texarkana, AR, six grandchildren, Chris Vodry, Tammy Sanchez, Michelle Schnicke, Tina Griffin, Adam Griffin and Bryan Griffin, and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg and will be held Monday, December 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at the Broadway Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Bay, AR, with Rev. Rick Jensen officiating.  Visitation will be at the church Monday, noon till service time.  Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery
