Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 21, 2024 – D.O. More Jonesboro Chapter members have partnered with the Northeast Arkansas Children’s Advocacy Center (NEACAC) to raise funds to help children who have fallen victim to abuse during this year’s Blessings in a Bag fundraiser.

D.O. More Jonesboro Chapter Treasurer Savannah Oyedemi, a student doctor at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University (NYITCOM@A-State) and the Student Government Association Executive Wellness Chair at Arkansas State University, said on Thursday the group is going to use funds to make care bags to give to children, which include hygiene products and a stuffed toy.

The Jonesboro Chapter of D.O. More, founded in 2023, is operated by medical students and physicians who want to serve their communities. While D.O More is not specifically affiliated with NYITCOM, Oyedemi said the medical school has numerous students who are members of D.O More Inc. national chapter.

This will be the group’s first year working with NEACAC.

“Every year D.O. More Jonesboro looks to partner with a non-profit organization to help raise funds and awareness that will support their mission,” Oyedemi said. “NEACAC was chosen because of their direct ties to the Northeast Arkansas community as well as the tremendous amount of support they offer victims of child abuse. We are so excited to be provided an opportunity to support NEACAC. We hope to continue supporting local non-profits in the Northeast Arkansas area.”

As of Thursday, Oyedemi said they were about halfway to their $1,400 goal. The last day for Venmo donations is Nov. 26. However, she said they will be taking Amazon Wishlist donations until March 2025 to maximize the number of children they can help.

Monetary donations can be made via Venmo to @savannah-jones-200 or can be made donations directly from their Amazon Wishlist to allow supporters to choose which items they would like to donate.

If community members would like to donate new/unused soap, toothpaste, shampoo and/or conditioner, they can directly to arrange item pickup via email at aander14@nyit.edu for Student Doctor Anderson or eduplech@nyit.edu for Student Doctor Duplechain.
