Mrs. Christine Summers, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2024 with her loving family with her.

She was born on May 20, 1931 in Jonesboro to the late Burl and Myrtle Gulley Dorton. She lived all of her life in the Jonesboro area and was retired from General Electric and loved to cook, garden, fish and be with her family and friends.  She was an active member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

To everyone who knew her, family or friend, she was an example of how to live gracefully.  She lived an extraordinary ordinary life. She was generous with her love and time and kind to everyone because she knew that relationships, like gardening, need attentions to be maintained.  She had many hardships to overcome in her early life, but her energy and focus was always on the beauty in life not the darkness.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Burns, daughter-in-law Doris Summers, granddaughter Lori Cauthen all from Arizona, granddaughters Sarah O Haver and Stephanie Summers from Wisconsin.  She had 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who she loved.  Especially Judy Ozbirn who provided much care and assistance during her final years.

She was preceded in death by her husband William T. (Bill) Summers, son Tom Summers, granddaughter, Crystal Burns, son-in law, Bill Burns brothers, Cleburn Dorton, Roy Dorton, Butch Dorton and Rubin Hinton.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 from Noon until 2 p.m. at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Robbie McMasters officiating.  Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Gregg- Langford Funeral Home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Mark Turner, David Summers, Michael Summers, Daniel Summers, Chris Cauthen, and William Summers.

The family requests lasting memorials to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
