Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 14, 2024 – In celebration of America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, Keep Jonesboro Beautiful (KJB) suggests that local residents renew a commitment to recycling and waste reduction by attending some of Jonesboro’s up-coming recycling events.
According to the Keep America Beautiful, America Recycles Day, which is celebrated by millions of Americans, is all about spreading the word on how recycling helps reduce waste, save energy, and conserve natural resources.
“In addition, recycling prevents unnecessary waste going to landfills,” said Keep Jonesboro Beautiful Chair Beverly Parker. “It is helpful also to give garbage new life by turning waste into something else such as using T-shirts as cleaning rags. Recycling though the city’s blue bin has the added benefit of decreasing household waste.”
Parker added that the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce Green Business Committee is hosting an electronics recycling event for both businesses and individuals, which will be available to the general public on Nov. 15 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce at 1709 E. Nettleton Ave.
During this event, Jonesboro residents can drop off their old electronics for safe recycling. These items can include computers, cell phones, batteries, printers, and more.

Parker added that glass recycling has been reestablished in conjunction with the city’s Neighborhood Clean Ups, which are offered the first Saturday of each month.
The next Neighborhood Clean Up will be on Dec. 7 from 8 a.m. until noon at Fox Meadow Elementary in Jonesboro. Citizens are encouraged to collect glass and bring it to the clean-up event for recycling, where the city’s sanitation department will have a special bin. Any color of glass is accepted, and citizens don’t have to remove labels or caps.
