Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 1, 2024 – Wood Street will be shut down for two weeks starting tomorrow.

The City of Jonesboro announced on social media Friday that Wood Street will be closed from Nov. 2 to Nov. 16 to allow for the installation of drainage improvements.

Donna Malone, Director of Communications for the City of Jonesboro, said the street retains water after significant amounts of rain, so the street will be regraded to improve drainage and keep water from ponding.

The closure begins at the intersection of Wood Street and Rosemond Avenue to Wood Street and W. College Avenue.

Motorists will be rerouted to S. Culberhouse Street and Alonzo Street. Drivers are encouraged to “plan [their] routes accordingly and allow for extra travel time,” according to a City of Jonesboro Facebook post.
