Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – September 3, 2024 – Nena Zimmer has been named Chief Reporter for Jonesboro Right Now, the online news service operated by the Jonesboro Radio Group.

“We are excited to welcome Nena to our team,” said Rachel Anderson, Editor-in-Chief. “She will add additional experience and talent to our staff.”

Zimmer was most recently a staff writer and photographer for the Jonesboro Sun where she had been since 2021.

“We have watched Nena’s writing, specifically over the last few months,” said Trey Stafford, President/General Manager of the Jonesboro Radio Group. “Nena will fit perfectly into the hyper-local news effort we have launched.”

Zimmer won several Arkansas Press Association awards while at The Sun, including First Place Best Feature Story (2023), Second Place Best Business Story (2024), Second Place Best Feature Story (2024), Second Place Best Single Feature Photo (2024).

She has won many awards over the years, with her first awards coming in the late 1990s at the Northeast Arkansas District Fair where she won first place awards for Pen and Ink and Graphite while still in high school.

Zimmer is a 1999 graduate of Weiner High School, the Jonesboro Technical Center and a 2005 graduate of Arkansas State University.

“I love telling the stories of the people I meet,” said Zimmer. “I am looking forward to writing and telling the stories of great people like the ones I have met during my time writing for The Sun.”

Jonesboro Right Now launched April 2, 2024. Viewership of the site surpassed one million pageviews in early August. The news is free to viewers, with no subscriptions and no pay wall.
